Hi team, in this video, you will find a quick intro to our methodology and a few framework examples as a reference. This week’s objective is to understand the work you have done in the last weeks/months. In our technical call, we will cover the methodology in more detail.
Description: The calculation itself may involve a number of iterations and adjustments, taking into account that results of statistical procedures may require the reassessment of indicators and transformation of data. This session will guide us through all the steps required to calculate the index. The index is calibrated to reflect the best possible outcomes versus the worst, so that scores will direct users to actionable focus points to improve social progress. The scale of SPI is 0-100, with 100 being the best. Utopia and dystopia settings for each indicator requires substantial effort and additional research. Often, national guidelines or international targets such as the SDGs can be used.
Here are also the access to the materials used and presented during class:
Description: The Social Progress Framework is based on very specific concepts and questions developed thorough exhaustive research. In this final session we will revise the design principles of the SPI when selecting the indicators and we will discuss the next steps on the project
Description: The Social Progress Framework defines a new way of thinking about development that focuses on human well-being, as an overarching goal to be pursued alongside economic growth. It is defined by three essential features: a comprehensive and universal definition of the non-economic aspects of human well-being, an action-oriented and results-based approach to the measurement of the non-economic aspects of human well-being, and a robust and consistent methodology. A growing number of organizations and governments around the world are applying the Social Progress Index in their local contexts, convening novel partnerships around a new lens on social performance that informs action to advance social progress. This session provides examples of research outcomes and will explore areas of interest to the audience.
